St. Barnabas & San Miguel
St. Barnabas’ Mission to Honduras began in October, 2014 …
when their first mission group made a pilgrimage to Honduras with the purpose of discerning God’s will for a Parish to Parish relationship between St. Barnabas and a church in the Diocese of Honduras, the companion diocese of the Diocese of Central Florida.
After visiting several churches in the area, the team’s willingness to respond to God’s gentle nudge was evident and they were ready to take a next small step toward beginning a relationship with the parish of San Miguel, in Ojo de Agua, a town northeast of the capital city of Honduras.
Since that initial visit teams have re-visited San Miguel twice a year. Our teams have been impressed by the work San Miguel has done to improve their building, as well as the way they’ve grown their church membership.
During the April, 2016 visit our team, made up of many youth from St. Barnabas Church and School, built a ramp, painted their sign and took final steps to create the Family to Family relationships with our St. Barnabas family. Our team also experienced a youth retreat with the students from St. Mary’s and youth from San Miguel.
